Editorial standards
How we rate online casinos
Each casino is rated out of 100 using evidence about its licence, ownership, terms, withdrawals, dispute history, security, safer-gambling tools and customer service. The rating reflects the information available on the date shown.
Every point comes from a published criterion with supporting evidence and a written reason.
Commercial relationships and offer values never increase a casino's rating.
How the rating is calculated
Eight areas add up to 100 points
Each area has a fixed number of possible points. We score a criterion only when reliable evidence supports the decision.

- Regulatory history and current standing 5
Company transparency

- Withdrawal processing times are clear and reasonable 2
- Identity checks and their timing are explained clearly 2

Unavailable evidence
Missing proof does not become assumed credit
We apply the same research process to every casino. Sometimes a casino, regulator or independent record does not provide enough reliable information to verify a specific criterion. That is a limitation in the available evidence, not an unfinished review.
We record those limitations instead of making assumptions. When an important claim—such as the licence, legal operator or exact authorized website—cannot be verified after review, that failure is reflected in the relevant category and explained beside the rating. It can also prevent us from listing an offer.
Confidence
How confident we are in the evidence
- High: current primary evidence covers every critical area and has passed a separate fact-check.
- Medium: useful evidence exists, but at least one important area needs stronger or newer support.
- Low: important parts of the record rely on limited, indirect or older evidence.
- Insufficient: the available material cannot support a responsible score.
Understanding the result
How to read a score
A higher score means the assessed evidence was stronger and showed fewer material concerns on the review date. It is not a probability of payment, safety or future conduct.
| Score | Label | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 85–100 | Strong | Strong verification and player-protection evidence with few material concerns. |
| 70–84 | Good | Generally positive evidence, with some limitations or issues worth checking. |
| 55–69 | Mixed | Meaningful positives and limitations are both present. |
| 40–54 | Weak | Reviewed evidence shows important weaknesses or player-protection concerns. |
| 0–39 | Material concerns | Reviewed evidence contains serious adverse findings requiring careful attention. |
Before publication
Every active casino is assessed across the same eight areas
- All eight rating areas are considered using the same published criteria.
- The exact casino website and claimed legal operator are checked.
- Licensing, ownership, terms, withdrawals, dispute history, security, safer gambling and customer service are documented in a dated review.
- Missing, conflicting or adverse evidence reduces the applicable category rather than being guessed.
- The calculation and serious-concern checks pass a separate verification step.
- The review is still current.
Closed casinos are marked inactive and may show a clearly labelled historical rating instead of a score for a product that no longer exists.
Serious concerns
Some findings require a firm safety decision
We do not recommend a casino when we cannot verify its licence, legal operator or exact website, or when the evidence shows serious problems with terms, withdrawals, self-exclusion or security. Its profile may remain available so readers can see what we found. The final rating always equals the result calculated from the eight published categories. A separate safety or advertising decision may block promotion, but it never overwrites that number.
Location availability is checked separately from the rating because access and eligibility can vary by country or region.
Complaint evidence
We assess real disputes separately from customer service
- Duplicate reports and reports about a different casino or website are removed.
- Recent, severe and independently supported cases receive more weight.
- The outcome, casino response and any corrective action are recorded.
- When reliable data exists, complaint volume is considered alongside the casino's size.
- A case affects another category only when it proves the underlying issue. Formal outcomes and cooperation stay here; routine questions stay in Customer service, so one interaction cannot add or remove points in both.
How we stay independent
Payments and partnerships do not affect the score
- A casino cannot buy points or pay for a better rating.
- Reviewers do not use commission or conversion data when scoring.
- Research and the final score check are completed as separate recorded steps.
- Changes require a written reason, author and timestamp.
- Material corrections create a new dated review record.
Our commercial relationships are explained separately in the affiliate disclosure.
Location and access
Strong regulation receives real credit
When the exact casino is authorized in a strongly regulated market, official requirements can support points for regulatory oversight, tested games, security controls, player safeguards and access to complaints. We check the evidence for each area and do not award the same protection twice.
For example, Ontario's official framework describes protections for player funds, payouts, personal data, fair games and safer gambling. Critical gaming systems must also be tested by a registered independent laboratory. See Ontario's regulated-market protections and AGCO testing requirements.
Availability by itself does not earn points. A casino may also be unavailable where a reader lives, so offers are shown only in supported locations even when the casino has a good rating.
Keeping ratings current
Ratings are dated and can change
We recheck after important changes to a licence, ownership, website, terms, withdrawal rules, regulatory record or security. Each casino profile shows when its rating and information were last updated. A score can be revised sooner if new evidence changes the result, and an offer can be blocked immediately when a serious concern appears.
Operators and readers can email corrections@casinofreespinfinder.com to dispute a score, identify a factual issue or provide additional evidence. See our corrections process for what to include.
Important context: Ratings are editorial opinions based on the records, casino materials and third-party evidence available on the review date. Information can be incomplete or become outdated. A rating is not a guarantee that a casino is legal, safe or will pay every customer. Check the casino's current rules and the regulator that applies where you live before registering, depositing or gambling.
